Town Council Run Events

Town Council Run Events

Wantage Town Council is proud to organise a range of free community events throughout the year, celebrating our town’s history, local talent, and community spirit.

There are usually four main events each year, all held on Sundays and open to everyone to enjoy:

St George’s Day

Held every April, this free community day celebrates England’s patron saint, St George. Expect family-friendly activities, entertainment, and plenty of opportunities to come together and celebrate our community spirit.

Food & Drink Festival

Taking place in early July, the Wantage Food & Drink Festival brings together a fantastic selection of local traders offering delicious food and drink. Enjoy live music, cooking demonstrations, and a great day out for all ages.

Alfredfest

Celebrating King Alfred the Great, who was born right here in Wantage, Alfredfest takes place in October. This free community event features talks, walking tours, live entertainment, and activities honouring our town’s rich heritage.

Christmas Artisan Market

Held in late November or early December, the Christmas Artisan Market is the perfect place to find unique gifts, festive food, and seasonal entertainment. Local stalls fill the town with Christmas cheer and community spirit.

Additional Events

From time to time, the Town Council also organises or supports special events to mark national occasions, such as VE Day commemorations or royal celebrations. Details of any additional events will be shared on this website and through our social media channels.
